The Albany Pool was demolished in July 2009, as scheduled; asbestos and lead were removed from the pool site in June 2009. Pool construction is expected to begin in June 2010, following review by the Department of the State Architect (DSA). The new pool/classroom complex is scheduled to open in summer 2011.

 

The half-a-century-old Albany Pool is being replaced thanks to 71% of Albany voters who approved Measure E in February, 2008. The Albany School Board selected one of the largest architectural, planning, landscape, and interior design firms in California, LPA, Inc., to design the pool project. The current pool closed December 21, 2008.
