Valerie Williams received a Bachelor’s in Arts Degree in Speech/Communication from the University of Hawaii in 1982, a Professional Teaching Diploma in 1985 from the University of Hawaii, and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration & Administrative credential in 1998 from San Jose State University.

Ms. Williams began her career as a classroom teacher in her native Hawaii in 1985 where she taught English for one year before moving to Valley Christian High School in San Jose and then spending 11 years teaching in the East Side Union High School District. Ms. Williams is an experienced and committed educator and a well-respected administrator with a wide-range of experiences in high-performing Bay Area school districts. Ms. Williams has extensive experience as a site administrator, beginning as an Associate Principal at Independence High School in San Jose in 1998 and then spending five years as the Principal of Wood Middle School in Alameda.

Ms. Williams currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in Dublin Unified, where she oversees hiring, recruitment, evaluation and personnel administration for one of the fastest-growing school districts in the State. She came to Dublin after five years in Fremont Unified, where she served as both the Director of Student Services and the Director of Certified Personnel.

Ms. Williams is a firm believer in the Professional Learning Community Model and has participated in a district PLC for the past three years in Dublin. Ms. Williams has completed numerous professional development academies through the Association of California School Administrators including the Superintendent’s Academy, Personnel Academy, Special Education Academy and School Business Officials Academy. Ms. Williams also co-presents at the ACSA Superintendent’s Academy on Superintendent & Board Relations and High Achievement through Human Resources Development. Ms. Williams’ leadership style is based on trust, respect, collaboration, empowering others, and hard work.

In her spare time, Ms. Williams is an avid runner and yoga practitioner.
