Good Afternoon, Incoming Kindergarten and Incoming 1st Grade Families:I deeply appreciate the concern the community has shown about keeping class sizes small for our youngest learners. The district understands the benefits of small class sizes, especially in the primary grades. AUSD will keep class sizes as low as possible, and you have my word that these classes will have less than 28 students.
Our enrollment window is still open, and I will monitor the numbers weekly. Although enrollment does have dips and rises, it is a problem that school districts deal with on an annual basis. On the broader issue of how AUSD will handle budget planning, I invite you to participate in the priorities setting meetings in the coming months.
