Summer 2024 Programs

AUSD will be offering three free programs this summer to help all students achieve their fullest potential.
  • High School Credit Recovery and Acceleration Program
  • English Language Development (ELD) Summer Bridge Program for ELD students in 4th–8th grade
  • Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP), an invitation-only program for underserved students in Transitional Kindergarten through 6th grade.

High School Credit Recovery and Acceleration Program

Albany High School students will be able to participate in our High School Credit Recovery and Acceleration Program for mathematics, English, and social sciences. The program begins on Wednesday, June 12 and ends on Friday, July 12 and will be held at Marin Elementary School, Monday through Friday, with no school on June 19, July 4, and July 5, for a total of 20 instructional days.

There will be a morning session from 8:30–11:30am for all three subject areas, and a possible afternoon session from 12:30–3:30pm for students needing additional credit recovery or acceleration in math or English. This will be determined by the number of students that sign up through their counselors at AHS. Based on last year’s data, we expect to have about 120 students participate in this free program.

English Language Development (ELD) Summer Bridge Program

The ELD Summer Bridge Program for Elementary and Middle School students will be offered to students in our English Language Development (ELD) Programs at Cornell, Ocean View and Marin Elementary Schools currently enrolled in 4th or 5th grades, as well as AMS students in 6th through 8th grades. This free program will have one session from 8:30–11:30am. The program begins on Wednesday, June 12 and ends on Friday, July 12 and will be held at Marin Elementary School, Monday through Friday, with no school on June 19, July 4, and July 5, for a total of 20 instructional days.

Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) will be offered at Marin Elementary School, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. The ELOP summer program will be a free 6-week program starting on June 17 and ending on July 30. We will serve approximately 150 students in TK–6th grades. Students will be provided a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack between learning activities each day. This is an invitation-only program, based on the student's status as:

  • Qualified for free or reduced price lunch (Although all school meals are now free to all, the state still depends on this identification to qualify students for some programs and benefits, such as ELOP. Click on the link to fill out an application.);
  • Unhoused or Foster Youth; and/or
  • English Language Learners
AUSD families meeting these qualifications were sent applications in early April. Spaces are extremely limited, and not all students who qualify can be served. A team of teachers and administrators will begin to send out acceptance letters in May 2024. If your 4th–6th grade English Learning Development (ELD) student is not accepted into ELOP, we encourage you to enroll them in the free ELD Summer Bridge Program described above.
