Superintendent's Message

Photo of Supt. Sara StoneDear AUSD Community,

It is my privilege to serve as Superintendent of Albany Unified School District. Every day, I am inspired by the curiosity, creativity, and resilience of our students and by the dedication of our educators, staff, families, and community partners who work together to support them.

At Albany Unified, we believe every student deserves an excellent education in a school where they feel known, challenged, supported, and valued. Our work is grounded in the belief that strong relationships, engaging learning experiences, and a deep sense of belonging create the conditions for students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

As Superintendent, my commitment is to ensure that every decision we make is centered on students. Together, we are focused on accelerating learning, cultivating welcoming and inclusive schools, strengthening trust through transparent communication and meaningful partnerships, and building strong systems that support excellent teaching, responsible stewardship of public resources, and continuous improvement across our district.

The challenges facing public education are complex, but I believe our greatest strength is our community. By listening deeply, working collaboratively, and staying focused on what matters most, we can create opportunities for every student to reach their fullest potential.

Thank you for your partnership and for the many ways you contribute to Albany Unified. I look forward to continuing this work together as we build on our strengths, embrace new possibilities, and ensure every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

With gratitude and partnership,
Sara Stone, Ed.D
