2026 Student Outcomes Dashboard

Albany students reached Blue, the highest performance level, on — of — state indicators, and scored above the state average on every academic measure.

Rooted in Community, Rising in Possibility
How to read ELA and math results. California reports ELA and math scores as distance from Proficient (also called distance from standard). Each student's score is compared to the lowest score that counts as Proficient for their grade, and the results are averaged across all students tested. For example, a student who scores 50 points past that line counts as 50 above; a student just short of it counts as a few points below. A result "above proficient" means the average student scored past the Proficient line. This measure credits growth at every level, including students moving closer to Proficient and students moving from Proficient to Advanced.
How performance colors are set

Each indicator's color (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green or Blue, from lowest to highest) combines two things: the current result and the change from the prior year. A strong current result can earn Blue even when the change is small, and a large gain can raise a group's color even when its current result is still developing.

Correction: 2026 California School Dashboard, chronic absenteeism. The 2026 California School Dashboard shows a chronic absenteeism rate of — for Albany Unified. This rate is incorrect because of an error in attendance data the district submitted to the state for Albany Middle School. Our correct 2025-26 rate for grades K-8 is about —. The district has notified the California Department of Education and has added a review step to prevent future reporting errors.

About the data

State indicators come from the California School Dashboard 2026 release for Albany City Unified. Performance levels run from Red (lowest) to Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue (highest). ELA and math results show the average distance from the Proficient level: a positive number means students scored above it on average.

Science results are reported by the state in science points, a different scale from ELA and math. The science card also shows the share of students scoring at or above proficient on the California Science Test.

Chronic absenteeism reflects district attendance records for students in grades K-8 missing 10% or more of enrolled school days. The 2025-26 figure is the district's corrected rate; the rate shown on the 2026 California School Dashboard resulted from an error in attendance data submitted for Albany Middle School.

ELA by grade and focal group reflects the district's analysis of preliminary 2025-26 results and may differ slightly from the state's verified figures. Focal group definitions in this analysis (for example, multilingual learners) may differ from state student group definitions.

Neighboring districts results come from 2024-25 Smarter Balanced results published by EdSource from California Department of Education data. District profiles come from the California Department of Education (enrollment and English learners, 2025-26) and each district's California School Dashboard or LCAP summary. Orinda Union's district-wide socioeconomically disadvantaged share was not available from these sources.
