ALBANY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT RESPONSE TO MISSING STUDENT REPORT

ALBANY – This morning, Albany Unified School District was informed by the Albany Police Department that an Albany student was missing. He left home early this morning with a handgun. Although there has been no threat to students, staff or schools, we are taking every precaution to protect your children. Late this morning, there was an unsubstantiated report that the student was sighted in the city of Albany. The district implemented emergency lockdown procedures at 11:05 am. The sighting has not been corroborated therefore lockdown procedures were lifted. The schools were released from lockdown at 1:10 pm. Normal school operations have resumed. The school district is working closely with the Albany Police Department as they continue to look for the missing student.
