Dear Albany Community,
Earlier today, we were informed of several deeply disturbing and threatening posters found near Albany Middle School. These images contain hateful and antisemitic messages that have no place in our schools or our city. We immediately contacted the Albany Police Department, which is investigating the incident and working to ensure the materials are removed.
We understand that many issues unfolding around the world are outside of our sphere of control—conflicts, violence, and acts of hatred that impact members of our community in different ways. Even amid this global unrest, we want to be unequivocal: Albany Unified School District remains a place where every student, family, and community member belongs.
As a district, we are steadfast in our commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and respectful schools for all. Acts of hate, bigotry, or intimidation—whether directed at individuals or groups—have no place here and will not be tolerated.
We recognize the fear and pain that incidents like this may cause, especially for our Jewish students, staff, and families. We stand in solidarity with those who are targeted by hate and are working with law enforcement and community partners to determine if this incident is connected to our school community.
Counseling and support services are available for students or staff who need them. We encourage anyone who sees or hears something concerning to report it to a trusted adult or school administrator.
Now, more than ever, we must continue to come together, uphold our shared values, and ensure that all community members feel seen, safe, and valued.
