The parents of AUSD students Eliot and Spencer Perry filed a lawsuit in federal court challenging the constitutionality of California’s Proposition 8, which bans same sex marriage. The lawsuit was debated before the United State Supreme Court on March 26, 2013.

Kristin Perry's and Sandra Stier's participation in this lawsuit demonstrates their willingness to advocate for equal rights for gay men and women and their children and act as national leaders in civil rights advocacy.
