AUSD received positive media coverage in an article written by Damin Esper Correspondent for the Bay Area News Group. The article Albany Schools Host First Black History Celebration recently ran in the Contra Costa Times and contained the following quote from Albany Middle School PTA President and African American/Black Parent Engagement Committee member June McDaniels: " "I have been wanting this ever since I've been in the school district," she said. "For the past seven, eight years I have been trying to get some kind of black history celebration." McDaniels said the event was very emotional for her. "I'm already looking forward to the next year," she said.
