In this project, every pair of students designs three energy transformations (for example from kinetic to potential energy, to sound energy, etc) and groups work together to make the connections. The machine starts with a marble drop and ends with a bell being rung. The Physics students built a Rube Goldberg machine in December while studying types of energy; AP Physics students built this machine after completing the AP Physics C: Mechanics exam this spring.
