Superintendent's Message to the Community

Dear AUSD Community:

After 34 years in education, I have decided to retire at the end of June, 2019. I love working with our amazing AUSD staff, and I am honored to work on behalf of our AUSD students. In the time I have been your Superintendent, our district has focused on social justice mathematics, social-emotional learning, social justice competencies, adopting a new elementary reading and writing curriculum, and we began our work on culturally responsive teaching and practices. We are completing construction on the Albany Middle School Annex, preparing to build the Albany High School New Addition, and are in the planning phase to renovate/rebuild Ocean View Elementary.

I am proud of the work we are accomplishing together, and it has been my immense pleasure to have served as your Superintendent. However, it is time for me to focus more time on my family.

Thank you,
Val
