Albany Unified School District is putting on a half-day summit on March 5, 2011 to explore and address bullying. AUSD looks forward to pulling together teenage students, parents, community members, and educators to explore the scope and definition of bullying. There will also be an elementary track for elementary students and their parent(s) put on by Kidpower. During this summit, all participants will have the opportunity to learn some new tools with which to address bullying, whether it be on an institutional, familial, or interpersonal level. We will have two keynotes, one on Non-Violent Communication with Miki Kashtan and one on Cyber-Bullying with Steve Dewarns as well as a wide range of interesting and informative break-out sessions. Through this summit, we hope to further the work of creating a community of in which our young people feel safe, so they may thrive socially, psychologically and academically.
