Student Achievement Committee

At the June 8, 2021 Board meeting, the School Board voted to expand the Superintendent's Student Achievement Task Force and establish a Board-appointed Student Achievement Committee that meets regularly to address ongoing issues and challenges related to student achievement.

 

The purpose of the Student Achievement Committee is to:

  1. Serve as the advisory body for the District's Local Control and Accountability Plan development process;
  2. Review student achievement metrics and recommend strategies to close equity and opportunity gaps; and
  3. Review social emotional/mental health metrics and recommend strategies to close equity and opportunity gaps.
 

Metrics the Committee will review include (but are not limited to):

  • California School Dashboard
  • California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (English language arts, mathematics
    and science)
  • Local Assessments (i.e., Fastbridge)
  • Failing Grades in English/Mathematics (grades 6-12)
  • Secondary Mathematics Course Enrollment (grades 6-12)
  • Advanced Placement Enrollment (grades 11-12)
  • Reading/Mathematics Intervention
  • Reading/Mathematics Tutoring
  • School Accountability Report Cards
  • Albany Coming Together (ACT) Recommendations 

 

Composition of Committee: The Board determined that the composition of the committee would include representatives from ATA (teachers), CSEA, SEIU, principals, school site and District administrators, various parents groups, members from the Board of Education, and high school students.

 

Term: The Board determined that non-student members will serve for a two-year term and meetings will be held monthly. These are Board-appointed positions.
